I’ll also be discussing why I think the new application process is a GOOD thing!
As time goes on, they seem to be more committed to attracting serious “Merchers”, and while there’s no real fool-proof way to vet applicants, this is a step in the right direction.
Here’s what I would do if I applied today.
Hi Lisa. Love the podcasts, and this is the first time commenting. I’m glad I was accepted to Merch (after ten months of waiting) at the beginning of the year. All I’ve been hearing from people in the forums is that Amazon has been very inconsistent with who they accept. Some actual artists are being turned down and others who are just trying to make a quick buck are holding onto multiple accounts that they’re trying to sell to people who will pay top dollar to get in. Still, despite being on 10 tier, I feel blessed to get in. I’ve got thousands of designs already from being on the other POD sites and Etsy for years, so I can’t wait to tier up and use them.
Congrats Mike!! Yes, they have been VERY inconsistent so it’s good you got in. With all the theft and people abusing the program it’s very good they are getting pickier about who they accept. It’s for the good of the program. I wonder how many of the designers who got rejected actually showed examples of their art on the application?
